Course Description
Content and Language Integrated Learning, or CLIL, is a teaching approach that has gained popularity in recent years, particularly in the field of language education. The method involves teaching a curricular subject in a second language, usually English, while ensuring that students acquire language skills alongside subject-specific knowledge.
This course offers an introduction to CLIL for Primary and Secondary teachers. It is a practical course giving participants the opportunity to explore new ideas, tips and strategies for teaching curricular subjects through English. Participants examine the role of language in CLIL and look at ways they can support their students’ English language development across all language skills.
The course offers a mix of lectures and practical workshops and provides participants with a working knowledge of the key concepts in CLIL and a selection of practical activities and resources for use in the Primary or Secondary classroom.
Participants have the opportunity to explore relevant digital and AI tools for supporting their students in their CLIL learning. As a key element of success in CLIL is a teacher’s language ability, the course also focusses on the development of teachers’ English language proficiency.
Who is this course for?
The CLIL course is an intensive professional training course for Primary and Secondary school teachers who have little or no CLIL experience, but who want to know more about this exciting methodology.
The course is also of benefit to English teachers who work as part of a CLIL team, or those who want to integrate a CLIL approach into their language teaching.
